Poken looks like some animal-shaped USB memory stick, but they can actually contain loads of useful information and work in a simply and smart manner.
Take your Poken always with you and, whenever you need to exchange personal or networking info with friends, all you need to do is ‘high five’ it with your friend’s, and each time you successfully ‘Poken’ a new friend, a green light glows on your cute little critter’s hand. Both your Poken and your friend’s contain now all the networking information and links of your respective networking profiles.
When you are back home, plug the USB hand of your Poken to your computer. Its clever RF technology will zap all the information your Poken has been gathering.
The creators do not intend to turn this new exchange cute device into some new social network, but you need to open an account at their site so that they can work properly, Do You Poken?, where you can download all your friends’ data.
The advantage comparing to other networks is that at Do You Poken? all your contact accounts – Facebook, Tuenti, Linkedin, Skype... – will unify into a single profile. The disadvantage is that, in order for him to work well, we all need to have a Poken with us. The idea might seem difficult, but the Poken are rather cheap, just about 20 euros each, an affordable price for most teenagers with a computer at home. There are four different styles to choose from: panda, bee, voodoo and monster.
Each Poken is able to host 64 contacts, and when it’s about to full up, an orange light warns when it’s nearing maximum capacity so you need to download all the information.
If Poken do succeed, all you will need to remember is a single password, that of your Do You Poken? account. Incredible! If they do not work, you can always use them as a your pet.
