Flashbang; the growing usb memory stick

Being always aware how full your USB memory stick is, becomes quite useful. A Russian designer is proposing an usb flash drive which fattens as data is stored

It surely happened to you more than once that at the very precise moment when you needed it most, your USB flash memory stick is full. You didn’t remember to download and empty it and you actually need all the data stored there. That annoying situation could be easily avoided if only our usb sticks were able to tell us, with no need to plug them in to the computer, how much free memory capacity is left to keep storing up.

That’s exactly what Dima Komissarov is proposing: a pumping up USB memory stick. It’s an ordinary USB memory stick, but with a special feature: the size of the device changes depending on the amount of data it holds; the more data, the bigger it becomes. This way it becomes easy to roughly calculate with the naked eye how much free storing space you’ve got left.

It is not available in the stores yet, but the creator blindly trusts that her concept idea could work fine, so she run and patented it already. We can’t really work out how it does actually pump up, but there’s something we’re concerned about: if it blows up and bursts or deflates, will you lose the stored data? How would you manage to recover it?
